I think the appeasement era of Europe is pretty good as a behavior model for this.

I am not willing to even believe they actually caught anyone. I need to see evidence that cannot be tampered with before I will entertain this arrest as stemming from actual evidence and not just another false prosecution.

And trumpy has just suddenly turned a civil service into a police state. Usually that’s gradual or suddenly changes in a society where the people don’t have a say anyway.

Point is, what feels immovable and impossible today can suddenly become the standard of life. Things change. The key is recognizing that those “changes” often are accompanied by massive amounts of violence or other form of destruction like a plague.

But just as the land upon which we live our entire lives feels solid and permanent, beneath it there is the ever growing pressure of plate tectonics. Two immense, unchangeable masses vie for the space only one can have. A stalemate.

Until the sudden release of energy violently changes that.

For my money, that straight up means CitizensUnited is only accepted case law because the 5th vote accepted a bribe from people with a material and ideological interest in the case.
