They have hit the wall with GWAS. The problem is 30+ years of, “Genes found for {insert trait here},” mainstream media stories accumulating to create a perception that the field has validity (including for doctors).

Counterpoint (and I’m not defending MD’s, who rarely even read abstracts): Most read the press hype created by those performing the studies. At least that’s my experience with behavioral genetics. Scientists are exaggerating their results to give the study more attention and MD’s are lapping it up.
