I don’t really know what Dan Kaminsky was like as a person. I do know that a warm communication from someone whose work I admired made me smile.

I’d like to be *excited* with people more often and lift them up. I feel like in all the noise and stress of the last few years I’ve lost some of that.

I eventually did (after days of wringing my hands) and we had a cure short email thread about it and he even looped in another random hacker idol for thoughts and actually everyone was so warm and friendly, not at all the dunkfest my fears had imagined.

Puzzled over it, I asked friends for advice, who in turn suggested I ask Dan Kaminsky, who I had suspected had probably seen something similar. I was a huge fan of dakami, so that was an absolutely mortifying prospect. I didn’t want to bother him!

That is functionally a ban on teaching gender affirming care to residents, though, and giving care at any place with residents, any FQHC, every hospital. that takes Medicare patients… etc?

I worry the changes from 2017 requiring California physicians to finish 3 yrs residency before moonlighting (longest in the nation) will hurt our ability to attract doctors, and cause a lot of financial hardship. it’s already with these changes very challenging unless you happen to come from wealth…

I guess going into year 2 of med school it might be nice to be more familiar with specific literature regarding blockers/adolescent HRT initiation since I’m probably gonna talk with my peers about it a lot and encourage them to practice at the limits of their specialties once out in the world.

I think the last guidelines discussion I read from endocrine society a couple years ago was like “there’s data to suggest 14 is a safe age for good old HRT” (and is worded open-endedly to suggest earlier plausibly OK). I really appreciated that.
