Last night we played Kata Kumbas instead of Stonehell. KK is my first RPG, dating back from 1990; despite trying, I only managed to play one session oin the nineties, and then nothing. 🧡

that tweet about how vance has 4chan politics with tumblr cadence - "pretty problematic of you to want to tax the rich when there's literally a (checks notes) white genocide going on right now"

screenshot of text from Adam Serwer in The Atlantic: "The secret fear of the morally depraved is that virtue is actually common, and that they're the ones who are alone. In Minnesota, all of the ideological cornerstones of MAGA have been proved false at once. Minnesotans, not the armed thugs of ICE and the Border Patrol, are brave. Minnesotans have shown that their community is socially cohesive - because of its diversity and not in spite of it. Minnesotans have found and loved one another in a world atomized by social media, where empty men have tried to fill their lonely soul with lies about their own inherent superiority. Minnesotans have preserved everything worthwhile about "Western civilization," while armed brutes try to tear it down by force."

I’m just gonna pull out the John Ganz tweet because honestly, you always have to keep this in mind when listening to them, something these Obama admin libs with their NYT PR article clearly forgot:

I listen to maybe half a dozen podcasts run by excellent people that provide detailed coverage of the far-right. Their summaries of their neo-Nazi beliefs, interpersonal beefs, scandals of drug-induced psychosis, and detailed history of niche far-right terrorist groups is important. This ain’t it.

if you are interested in learning about right wing media in a way that doesn't amount to deliberately cooking your own brain, here are five podcasts i actively listen to and really like on the topic. i will plug my own as number six. in no particular order:

I found the rascal article disappointing, and am sort of glad they didn't reach out to me for comment β€” I suspect they would have discarded what I'd've told them β€” but it's also frustrating to have yet another article frame jay as a lone auteur when the book they're covering is at least half my baby

Man goes to a doctor. Doctor says go see the great clown Pagliacci. Man says, but Doctor, you went to medical school. I thought maybe you'd give me some medicine or something. What the fuck. See a clown? I am right now, Doctor!

πŸ‹ day 10 (35-39). maybe allegory isn’t even the right word so much as analogy. the mast is like the pyramid is like the column. ahab is like the ship. the whale is like the sun.

melville loves to riff. the soliloquy chapters make no sense in the frame of the story.

this is an extension of thinking about how much this book exist within whaleworld but also like. analogies are analogies for a reason. for now we see through a mirror, whalely.

πŸ‹day 9 / ch 32-34.

you hear people talk sometimes about how moby dick is this big literary metaphor for death, and you hear people talk sometimes about how moby dick is just an uwu little man telling you fun whale facts. both of these are reductive.

Red hats, red blood: roleplaying the January 6 insurrection in a Brooklyn warehouse What about America is worth fighting for?

It's been 5 years since a group of alt-right revolutionaries attempted a violent coup on the United States government at the behest of Donald Trump.

A year ago I attended a gamified version of that terrible day for @rascal.news. Its terrifying to see how much has changed and how much hasn't.
