If dementia is what this is then you cannot win a public argument. It may sell well domestically, but it risks antagonizing a mad man. We don't know how far he would go. It is better to play the long game. Defend your principles, but not to get into a shouting match.

Probably more prosaic and less conspiratorial then you think. I expect its a fancy rich people's version of homeschooling. Cause of the notoriety they can't use a regular school, but to have properly socialized kids they need a "normal school" environment. That plus lots of money gets you this.

I am certain that the little he does know about history he entirely misunderstands. Also he surrounds himself with half baked ideologues who may remember some broad things from school but have no refined understanding of anything. Certainly not to conduct competent foreign policy.

Hah, I had exactly the same thought a few weeks ago. We used to watch West Wing and that became hard after Bush became president.

This might look like a surrender on the face of it, but I am wondering if it's not actually a great move. Trump is back at the table, the stock market is up, and we can always revisit the matter at a later date. Not everything has to be a power move. I like to think of it as creative caving.
