Maybe the reason ICE wears masks is that they all look like what if Santa had a brother with a domestic violence record who couldn’t read

How MAGA Hopes To End Abortion Rights Once And For All Can the right wing get the Supreme Court to green light a de facto national abortion ban?

The Dobbs decision was not the end of the right's attempt to end abortion rights, it was just the beginning. And with a sympathetic MAGA majority on the Supreme Court, conservative lawyers are working overtime to enact a nationwide abortion ban. Guest author @importantmeagan.bsky.social lays it out.

Senate Democrats could have united behind Mangi and called out the GOP smear against him as religious bigotry. Instead, ~3 Dems decided to buy into that smear (and Schumer declined to fight), and now Bove has a 3d Circuit seat.

There's an obvious lesson here...

The Cowardice of Senate Democrats Made Emil Bove’s Confirmation Possible Senate Democrats could have confirmed Biden nominee Adeel Mangi to the Third Circuit last year. They caved to a disgraceful right-wing smear campaign instead.

Emil Bove's confirmation was only possible because Democrats caved to a vile right-wing smear campaign of Adeel Mangi, who would have been the first Muslim appeals court judge, when Biden nominated him for the same seat last year. Absolutely disgraceful. Bove's confirmation is on them, too.

And Senate Republicans are about to confirm him to a life appointment on a federal appeals court.

Democrats must ask: What’s a proportional response to Trump’s heinous corruption of the federal judiciary? Doing nothing means letting Bove and his ilk rule us for the next 40 years. I don’t accept it.

It shouldn't be this way, but the GOP SCOTUS demanded it be this way.

The flip side is that every elected Democrat needs to understand: if you're not 100% behind gerrymandering for Dems as aggressively as possible, you're screwing over your country to help Republicans win. Stop doing that.

Fun politics fact: Zohran Mamdani got 2.4 times as many votes in the mayoral primary as Hakeem Jeffries got in the highest-turnout general election of his career

Child Amputees, Aid Massacres, Mass Starvationβ€”the Israeli War Crimes NYT Covers Less than Mamdani and 'Globalize the Intifada' Theoretical, third order, speculative violence must be condemned while actual, real world mass violence, that actually exists in reality, is seen as normal and unworthy of sustained coverage.

In the past month NYT has published 32 articles that mention Mamdani and β€œglobalize the intifada", 13 that mention Israel's fake "aid" agency that's killed 800+, 5 on Israel's starvation campaign and two that mention, in passing, child amputees in Gaza. I argue this is makes no sense and is depraved

JD Vance was a creation of American liberal institutions that went on to destroy those same American liberal institutions. Liberals who wanted to empathize with the noble savages of the White Heartland. Real Greek tragedy level story

Here's Colbert on July 14 making fun of Paramount for paying Trump $16 million. It's hard not to see CBS canceling his show through this lens.

"I believe this kind of complicated financial settlement with a sitting government official has a technical name in legal circles. It's big fat bribe."

I for one think it was cool and good that nothing was done in the last four years of Democratic control to rein in the Supreme Court, I'm glad the norm respecters won out and we're all living in a rich norm-filled paradise today.

Congress created a Department of Education and made clear that the President can't unilaterally shut the department down. If the Supreme Court is going to overrule two lower courts and let that happen -- and it will be effectively irreversible -- they have an obligation to tell us why.

The Washington Post is now a billionaire's play toy to prop up himself and a regime that helps further enrich people like himself even as government thugs abduct people in the streets to send them to foreign gulags and hellacious concentration camps on American soil.
