Mike Farrell came into the food co-op in my small town while I was stocking shelves. I treated him so normal I barely noticed there was a human in the store. It was only after he left the cashier told me who had just come in.

I volunteer at a senior computing center, and one man kept saying that he just doesn’t know these things. I told him nobody is born knowing how to use digital devices, but when I got home I felt angry. He was a professor, thinking I have some inherent knowledge, not that I spent decades learning.

I was sweeping my back patio, stopped for a breather and noticed that the big maple tree was *squirming*.

Happy to see that my back yard is the wildlife refuge I’ve been striving for.

I live in a small university town with parking problems, I can usually walk in the door at the same time as a car driver, just because I can park right at the building.

Wooden horse sent as a gift to the city of Troy, concealing warriors who emerged and sacked the city. Don’t know why the story of the gift jet made me think of that …

I think we are human so that we spend our lives considering exactly that question and what the implications are for how to live a life. And continuing to reconsider and revise.

Yesterday we had a trail cleanup, picking up branches and logs that had been cleared from the sides. I had also helped with organizing, so the night before I had severe anxiety that I had dropped the ball. Then the log clearing and then we went out for beers. I was down for the count by 5:00pm 😌

In related news, we have enough firewood for next winter now. 🪵🔥

If picking up branches and logs along the Latah Trail all day with new and old friends and then going out for beers after is wrong, I don’t want to be right.

I made a cheesecake yesterday, it took all day (most of it just letting it rest and cool) and today we are enjoying the benefit of a large home made cheesecake in the fridge.

Nobody warns you that after you retire you might be innocently doing some gardening and suddenly people are buying you more beers than you’re ready to handle.

When your pet is clearly saying “what was that noise”, it’s time to run.

Last June, after I retired, I worked on recovering my health by working on my yard. I’m happy to see that the fruits of last year’s labor are coming to me now both in my garden and in myself.

Sometimes it’s hormones, sometimes it’s the actual horrors happening. Sometimes it all lines up for maximum terribleness.

Also I felt bad because the woman was older and possibly she had some kind of chronic condition but I didn’t feel like testing that with my own body. Or worse, asking her.

Thank you! I was thinking I had overreacted but then I went on a bike ride with friends instead and had a grand time.

Attempted to find some joy at the local fiber festival / spin-in. A man let his daughter fondle all the snacks with her bare hands and a woman across from me had a deep hacking cough and I had to peace out back home.

I guess I’m a germaphobe now?

I am so so tired of people telling me how to be a gender.

Has anyone checked for excessive flatulence in the White House? Just a thought.
