Note: the Western US also has 3,600 MW of coal retiring in 2025.

This may be true for the US, but the Western US continues to lower its fossil fuel usage at a steady pace.

The estimate for 2025 is based on the data reported thru July.

About 50-60 GWh of battery storage was added in the US over the last 18 months.

The total is now about 100 GWh. It would be nice to see this grow to 500 GWh by 2030.

The US needs to get to 100 GW of utility-scale per year. At least.

Good morning with good news: Poland's RE passed coal for the first time in June, generating 44.1% of Poland’s electricity, with coal falling to 43.7%

Coal fell to 46.2% in Q2 2025 from 56.4% in Q2 2024.

Wind & solar surged to ~39% in 6/2025 from 28% in 6/2024!
