US plans to freeze $510 million in grants to Brown University, official says The administration of President Donald Trump plans to freeze $510 million in grants to Brown University over what it calls antisemitism on campus, a U.S. official told Reuters on Thursday, but the university said it had not yet been formally notified.

I wonder how long it will be before my local university is next to lose their funding. Our town will be devastated if so, on top of the cuts to NIH funding.

Kennedy Remains Quiet on 10,000 Jobs Lost at HHS Kennedy's silence is prompting questions from Republican and Democratic lawmakers alike

Kennedy Remains Quiet on 10,000 Jobs Lost at HHS @apnews.com's insightful reporting: Kennedy with no public explanation & right-hand guy Casey Means denying NIH funding cuts. Could this possibly mean they do not know what they've done? Radical transparency or radical...not sure how to fill that in!

Massive, Unarchivable Datasets of Cancer, Covid, and Alzheimer's Research Could Be Lost Forever Days before Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced that 10,000 HHS staffers would lose their jobs, a message appeared on NIH research repository sites saying they were "under review."

Right before RFK announced disastrous cuts to HHS, major health data repositories were "marked for review." Archivists say this data is often impossible to save www.404media.co/nih-archives...

No Personnel Is Policy The Trump administration is accomplishing through layoffs what it couldn’t accomplish through Congress.

What we're seeing at NIH and so many other gov agencies is the No Personnel Policy.

Without staff knowing supplies are low or equipment broken, the public doesn't either, and plays into the DOGE "savings" bullshit.

NEW: The NIH has begun terminating grants about COVID-19, leaving long COVID funding in limbo, according to a new internal guidance document I obtained.

The people who provide healthcare are being squeezed - just like the public.

From the perspective of those of us who work in the ER, the collapse is already happening.

Today I lost an NIH grant training clinicians to do research about intimate partner violence with perinatal women.

More women are murdered in the perinatal period than die of obstetric complications.

I didn't just lose a grant. We lost an entire cohort of people building careers to prevent that.

Beautiful, powerful letter

I have been asked by Harvard colleagues if they should keep quiet so as not put the larger Harvard community at risk with their words

Took me a while to ruminate

My response:

Harvard is its people and their voices

If we are silent then there is no Harvard to save

At NIH, β€˜everyone is on edge’ as they brace for deep cuts and more centralized control As the NIH braces for cuts of up to 5,000 of its 20,000 positions, β€œpeople are scrambling and freaking out,” a researcher said.

NIH is likely cutting up to 25% of its workforce this week. NIH staff have substantial expertise, typically PhDs. And they really *believe* in the work. NIH's will not be able to meet its mission w/these cuts. The scientific threat is not just direct funding cuts www.statnews.com/2025/03/14/n...
