Epstein files contain explicit but unsubstantiated claim that Trump abused minor Department of Justice did not release FBI memos when it uploaded millions of pages of files beginning in December Three memos that describe four interviews conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 2019 contain explicit but unsubstantiated claims that Donald Trump sexually abused a woman when she was a minor in the early 1980s with the assistance of Jeffrey Epstein, according to a Guardian review of those documents. The Department of Justice did not release those records when it uploaded millions of pages of files related to Epstein beginning in December. The existence of the missing documents was first reported by independent journalist Roger Sollenberger and subsequently confirmed by NPR, causing outrage in Washington and sparking an investigation from congressional Democrats. The horrifying tragedy in Tumbler Ridge has left families with unthinkable losses and shaken communities across Canada. Like many Canadians, I am deeply disturbed by reports that concerning online activity from the suspect was not reported to law enforcement in a timely matter.
Canadians expect online platforms, including OpenAI, to have robust safety protocols and escalation practices in place to protect online safety and ensure law enforcement are warned about potential violence. I am in contact with OpenAl and other AI platforms regarding their safety protocols.
Our government is closely monitoring this situation as the RCMP investigation takes place, while reviewing a suite of measures to ensure the safety of Canadians, particularly children. All options are on the table to ensure that public safety and the protection of our children are the cornerstone of any technology built into these systems from the outset.

I’m starting to think that these networks had macroeconomic consequences. That Mandelson wasn’t just taking a cut for himself and his friends. Was he restructuring global trade? Was he ensuring the decline of UK/EU economies? How much drag was he effecting over the course of decades?

The big picture: Hegseth told Amodei in a tense meeting on Tuesday that the Pentagon will either cut ties and declare Anthropic a "supply chain risk," or invoke the Defense Production Act to force the company to tailor its model to the military's needs.

Why it matters: The Pentagon wants to punish Anthropic as the feud over AI safeguards grows increasingly nasty, but officials are also worried about the consequences of losing access to its industry-leading model, Claude.

"The only reason we're still talking to these people is we need them and we need them now. The problem for these guys is they are that good," a Defense official told Axios ahead of the meeting.
Anthropic has said it is willing to adapt its usage policies for the Pentagon, but not to allow its model to be used for the mass surveillance of Americans or the development of weapons that fire without human involvement.

There's a lot going on.

But it deserves FAR MORE ATTENTION that Whiskey Pete is going to seize the means of AI production so he can 1) engage in mass surveillance of Americans and 2) shoot without human intervention.

Dystopias this bad would be deemed unrealistic.

Across Canada, 48% of college and university students report struggling with the cost of tuition fees. That’s almost HALF of students.

Federal student grants are on the chopping block. More cuts to student supports would be DEVASTATING.

Student support should be increasing, not decreasing.
