There is this wild cocktail of “cute wholesome nonsense”, “fridge horror existential nightmare” and “earnest thoughtful embrace of ephemeral joys in the face of struggle” but also they look like marshmallows and it’s all told so gently. My comfort media at the moment.

I fell into the Chiikawa rabbit hole the last couple of weeks and this 40 year old bought a little Hachiware in miniso yesterday to remind me to keep doing my best so y’know, this checks out.

The socioeconomic side of eating well gets swept under the rug too so people can keep their safe targets to punch down at. ‘Good’ food that is quick tends to rely on produce people may not be able to afford or even access. ‘Good’ food that is cheap takes time and labour.

I know how to cook, I’m pretty good at it, I often enjoy it (especially when I get to cook for my friends). Does my brain always let me? God no. Especially since I started trying to exercise more, sometimes there just is not the juice. And that’s just me, who is pretty privileged with my food access

Been struggling a bit lately but managed to make myself cook a good dinner and get a bit self-care cute with it once I was going, to remind myself I can have nice things.

Etymology The word cliché is borrowed from French, where it is a past passive participle of clicher, 'to click', used as a noun; cliché is attested from 1825 and originated in the printing trades. The term cliché was adopted as printers' jargon to refer to a stereotype, electrotype, cast plate or block print that could reproduce type or images repeatedly. The etymology of the word cliché is very cool

It’s a minor thing but it is refreshing to see this phrased as ‘finds’, not hiding behind ‘claims’ or the like. We need to sit with the horrors of our past actions as a country. It’s a terrible thing but it’s good—essential even—that we talk about it so we can learn to be better.

Needing to order a new bottle of my favourite white ink for corrections/highlights for a bunch of physical KS rewards and I love that it is called White 2. Yes I know it’s just because of how Deleter name their inks but it tickles me the one with best coverage is not just white, it’s the sequel!
