Yes, brought their kit for replacing Tom's phone battery
12.10.2025 15:41 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The crazy thing about buying the battery from @ifixit.com is that it was cheaper to buy the kit with all the tools and parts, than buying just the battery plus glue patches.
12.10.2025 15:27 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Fun times, cracking open a phone to replace the battery. Not scary at all ๐ฑ, letting Tom take the lead. He not worried, new battery or phone whatever the outcome ๐คฃ
12.10.2025 15:18 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0As mentioned by @cannonfodder.bsky.social a while ago there is a very good #maker event in #Derby later this month. If you are near Derby on the 25th October head along to #Assemble at #DerbyMuseum

The faders are motorised and move to the stored value after selection, currently set up for RGB colour values. It's programmed in CircuitPython. The motor driver is a @pimoroni.com Motor 2040 and is handling all the inputs and outputs.

28.09.2025 08:00 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Further update on my #GiganticUnicorn colour controller build, now have the Trellis keypad/display working and the fader is able to set colour level, currently only a single channel is connected, when selecting a pixel, fader is set automatically to current level.
28.09.2025 00:26 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 1Today, I have been working on a controller for the Giant Unicorn Hat. Have written a function to move the powered fadder to a set position, using a @pimoroni.com motor 2040, running CircuitPython to monitor/control the faders and the NeoTreilis.

Just found out about the sale, was distracted by the new 500+, it's lovely :-)
26.09.2025 21:57 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0And it's payday, Maker Gods please save me from the Pimoroni pirates, they after my maker funds!

Things happen when you live and work close to the Raspberry Pi shop!
26.09.2025 15:35 โ ๐ 24 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Nice design! I'm planning to use @pimoroni.com Motor2040 to control the motors and read the pots. Thanks for sharing

I sure you put the brain worm in my head about them at Makespace, ordered the next day. Lol
21.09.2025 12:43 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I blame @usedbytes.com for this, motorised faders for selecting the colour values of the Giant Unicorn hat pixels, thinking about designing a PCB to make it pretty :-) select a pixel and the pots move to the correct values #GiganticUnicorn

22.08.2025 21:53 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I always loved the drawings of Heath Robinson, I remember looking at his drawings for hours in my school library and being lost in them until the bell rang for class, I just found about the Heath Robinson Museum. Hopefully be able to visit next time in London.

For my next Hacky Racers robot build 'Rubber Ducky', I bought this beauty :-) for the Moxy team badge the tag line will be 'Get out of my quacking way'.

The Unicorn hats Raspberry Pi driver limit is 50% power, also running at 50% keeps the power budget in hand :-) one Raspberry Pi feeding 8 Pimoroni Keybows.
Each Keybows drive 8 Unicorn hats each.
About 6A @ 12v, it converted down to 5V for each row of Unicorns :-) each Unicorn is restricted to about 50% brightness
