The place I used to work advising people consider shorter hair styles after a tech was grabbed by the braids and SLAMMED against the floor (after they “joked” she was going to want them to pay for the replacements of the braids that were ripped out of her head in the act).

In addition to the hydration, keep the lips moisturized (I was 10 when I got mine out, let home to alone to care for myself, did a lot of mouth breathing and my lip split open down to the lower chin and it scarred).
