Me too. It's possibly my favorite proof ever? I love the simple elegance of it. I explained it to my kids over breakfast one day when they were ~7 years old. They got it. It really blows my mind how much pushback Cantor got from the mathematical establishment at the time.

Cantor's diagonal argument is a very beginner-friendly introduction to the hierarchy of infinities, in which he shows that the real numbers are more infinite than the integers. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cantor%...

Where cardinality gets interesting is in the hierarchy of infinities. There's "finite", then there's ℵ_0, which is the "countable" infinities of the number line and anything with a 1:1 mapping to the number line. Then uncountable infinities ℵ_1 and beyond, each more infinite than the last.

Cardinality is roughly how big a group of something is. Ordinality is, in the etymologically obvious way, related to the order of items within a group.
