I think that says more about how wildly out of touch the TUC is tbh. The EHRC guidance doesn't contain "trans exclusion and hate", it just affirms that biological sex actually matters in some situations. You can be in favour of accomodating trans people where possible without denying this.

The problem wasn't "transphobes". Major compromises were inevitable as soon as anyone thought about the detail rather than just the principle - that was always going to happen. Sturgeon's failure was an inability to think rationally and agree to sensible carve outs on sport, prison, children etc.
