the most significant change in the lives of those I’ve observed habituating themselves to LLM use is that they become worse thinkers and speakers. they cut themselves off from interesting conversations to “quickly check ChatGPT”. they regress. they become addicted. they certainly don’t “save time”

the fact that talking to Rook for 90 seconds was all it took for Thom to go from "oh my god my brother is alive!! 🥹" to "oh my god my brother is an ASSHOLE, I'm going to vindictively withhold life-altering information just to get the upper hand" is the exact experience of having an older sibling
