36 hours after her arthritis shot and Luna just came up on the bed with no hesitation! she was already starting to feel a little bit better but the difference is NUTS

the bleach was done as a balayage so it's going to be kind of a blend of these three and then a bit darker at my roots

omg I'm going purple this week too but it's more of a burgundy, I figure I've got one more dye before the bleached parts get too grown out so after the purp I plan to just chop a bunch of the ends off lol

if you count the men who married my aunts I have four uncle Johns. my mom's brother John III refused to name his kid John IV but my grandfather John Jr had just died so my cousin's legal name is Jack, which means Mel and I both have gay cousins whose legal names are Jack

not counting the men who married my aunts I have nine of them, most are farmers or in farm-related work. my dad's the youngest of 10 and his oldest brother had a son (my cousin) three months before my dad was born. his second oldest brother was his middle school vice principal

it really does smell like bacon and she was looking at it like that before the jar was even all the way opened lol

it's basically a jar of really thick, dry putty that you mold around the pill and once you do there's no way for the dog to eat the putty but not the pill. Luna loves it so much she doesn't even care that the pill is in it

after she'd gotten her shot we were in the room talking about next steps and Luna very delicately tapped on the door to ask to leave and both of those women SCREAMED in delight

Luna update: she's okay! she's still sore and will have to have her physical activity limited for a little while but it's nothing some rest and puppy tylenol can't fix. the techs were all delighted by her as usual and we're going to get her some ice cream for being such a good girl

this is what we had to settle on so I'm going to have to be so careful when I get up in the morning lol, she reluctantly settled but not before looking me straight in the eye while she planted her ass directly on my body pillow

for the record, our bedroom is not big so she's about three feet from my legs and maybe six from my head. her bed is memory foam and has been supplemented with blankets, two lamb chops, and the best body pillow we own (also her favorite, which she tries to steal from me frequently)

heartbreaking: Luna feels better enough that she WANTS to come up on stuff but she knows she can't really do it so the last 45 minutes involved me tucking her in multiple times only for her to get up as soon as I turned off the lights and gently paw at the ottoman she usually uses to get on the bed

this poor dog is SO UPSET. we're pretty sure she even understands what we're asking her to do, she's just too good of a girl to do it. apparently that was also the case when she was paralyzed as a puppy, but they weren't in a second floor apartment and she was like 50lbs smaller so it mattered less

Luna has been doing sooo much better after 24 hours with no stairs but we cant ask the downstairs neighbor to carry her up them like a sack of potatoes every time she needs to pee (he has kindly already done it twice, this man is shredded) so we've been trying to get her to use pee pads on the porch

went to my GP today and watched her get madder and madder as she read the ER doctor's notes which essentially boiled down to "bipolar patient keeps saying she has a mystery illness and gets emotional when we won't give her harder drugs"

the drug in question: epinephrine

the thing about giving Luna pills is that even if we hide it in food, she KNOWS it's in there, and whether or not she spits it out depends on 1) if the food we hid it in is high value enough for her to humor us and 2) how much more she thinks she'll get if we have to keep trying

painkillers from her last arthritis flare up and if they don't help at all or things get worse they'll try to squeeze her in sooner. the arthritis shots worked TOO WELL lmao, she wouldn't have been jumping like that if her joints were still stiff

it appears Luna did sprain something after all 😭 still not limping but she won't get up onto furniture and coming up the stairs after going potty is a big problem. talked to the vet and they can't get her in before our existing appointment on Friday so we're going to give her some of the puppy

Luna HATES having her feet touched so this is her personal nightmare but she isn't limping, had no trouble with the stairs or her window seat, and has been rotating between being in the office with Mel and where I'm eating a cheese stick in the living room so her priorities haven't changed lol

some of the big signs back in May were that she'd hide under the bed, wouldn't jump up on the couch or her window seat, refused to come up the stairs, and didn't move from room to room a whole lot so we're going to watch for that and even if she's totally fine the vet is going to take a look anyway

we're pretty sure she's okay because after a second of fumbling she got right back on her feet with her tail wagging and didn't seem to be limping as she extremely eagerly dragged Emily out for a walk, but we're going to keep an eye on it and have the vet take a look when we're there on Friday
