Eh, not like we’ve got to worry about extra Leagues Cup congestion and Abou Ali may actually be available by mid-September.

The real crime is that the rescheduled game will be at Yankee Stadium, not Citi Field, which is a much better baseball stadium to play soccer in.

Two things can be true:

1) A tournament with a group stage that doesn’t determine who makes it to the next round and which virtually guarantees that at least half of teams will advance on tiebreakers before a ball is even kicked is a disservice to everyone involved.

2) Leagues Cup doesn’t matter.

It’s a shame the way that media consolidation has gutted newsrooms across the US, including at The Dispatch. But the picture choice to accompany this story underscores that there are still some incredibly talented people—beat writers, photojournalists and editors—at our hometown paper #crew96
