My new rpg is classless. By which I mean, it totally has classes, but they‘re called something else. Also, it‘s not at all stylish or excellent. So it’s classless in multiple ways. Suck it, nerds.

Play like a GM is good advice. Can‘t really GM like a player, you have to read the book and learn the rules and show up on time or at all.

Even in the context of being an active participant, is there any worse or dumber mechanic to inflict on a player than “you are paralyzed and can do nothing”?

I buy lots and lots of rpg stuff, and the art is a big reason why. I spend exponentially more time looking at books than I do playing. And when I‘m lucky enough to be running a game, having good art to show players is my #1 exposition tool. Art matters. Layout matters.

I received the redux/reissue of TMNT & Other Strangeness #rpg book as a holiday gift. It’s still a horribly designed game, full of typos and contradictory rules.

And I love it. I’ve filled up two notebooks with new character builds. Nostalgia overload. Might even try to play it. Maybe.
