In this project they're adding a 4th track, another platform at Hahagana, another two platforms at Savidor Center, and a flyover southeast of HaHagana. This will allow them to separate express and suburban traffic and reduce platform crowding, so it might also improve dwell times

also basically Ayalon is operating "at capacity" with the current operating practices and signaling system, and only two of the three tracks are relevant for most lines. Meaning one delayed train messes the schedule for all others. This won't improve until the 4th track project is done

The dwell time is atrocious, the trains crawl between stations even when the track ahead is free due to the low speed limit, and the narrow platforms are super crowded (especially HaShalom at rush hour). ETCS and platform extensions are underway and these will improve things somewhat

specifically the crawling approach to JLM station is due to strict Israel Railways safety rules when approaching terminal stations, they have a speed limit of like 20km/h or something. It's insane. But that should be solved once the line is extended to JLM Center

Scheduled at 37 minutes from Hahagana to JLM. It's slow in two sections from there: at Ben Gurion, where they crawl again at the entrance and exit from the station (plus too much dwell time), and then at the final approach to the JLM station. It's reasonably fast everywhere else
