It is such a small amount of money for someone sitting on all that property wealth. More revealing of how the generation used to having the red carpet rolled out in front of them their whole life reacts to the least friction.

Can we honestly say that atm our system is designed to have a 'child-centred pedagogy' that is capable of meeting needs? I mean some high profile people on edutwitter disparage the idea that anything should be 'child-centred' at all. They literally say, 'If you don't like it go somewhere else.' ๐

2.We believe and proclaim that:
โข every child has a fundamental right to education, and must be given the opportunity to achieve
and maintain an acceptable level of learning,
โข every child has unique characteristics, interests, abilities and learning needs,
โข education systems should be designed and educational programmes implemented to take into
account the wide diversity of these characteristics and needs,
โข those with special educational needs must have access to regular schools which should
accommodate them within a child-centred pedagogy capable of meeting these needs,
โข regular schools with this inclusive orientation are the most effective means of combating
discriminatory attitudes, creating welcoming communities, building an inclusive society and
achieving education for all; more over, they provide an effective education to the majority of
children and improve the efficiency and ultimately the cost-effectiveness of the entire education
system.
Personally I think that a great starting point for discussions on 'what do we do about SEND in education?' is to go back to the Salamanca Statement and remember what 'inclusion' originally meant. The way that the system itself works has become the cause of exclusion for many CYP imho.

Fixed it for you. Idiots! If the exclusion is based on appearance then it will certainly impact cis folks as well as trans folks.

Hidden wonders: my fascinating encounters with the Bittern
Elusive and majestic, the Bitternโs booming call echoes across Minsmereโs reeds โ a symbol of hope and conservation success
Back in 1997 there were just 11 booming male Bitterns left in the UK โ almost extinct. Thanks to conservation by @rspb.bsky.social and @naturalengland.bsky.social 283 booming males were recorded in 2024.

If the government really wants to tackle the whole 'a whole pile of folks are off sick' thing, they could start by treating sick and disabled people as *people,* not broken office equipment. Oh, and acknowledging that post-viral disabilities are real, and covid happened, that'd be a start.
