MCP is definitely the way although it will depend on how/if it can expand outside of the development space.
Anthropic sure will be pleased and yelling from the rooftops that they created MCP if it does take off.

It is fairly new (in spec years) so I can imagine as use cases and needs change the spec could change as well. I think it was primarily designed for more of a higher throughput IoT protocol or city wide Wi-Fi so that impression may have slowed its adoption in drones.
I am genuinely curious, why is 802.11ah still not a very viable option? Is the range still not far enough or do those drones need above the 3-6 Mbps (of the top of my head, it could be 12) of 802.12ah?
