People will try to downplay this because it isn't the big win they might specifically want, but: public pushback just forced one of the largest & wealthiest media companies on the planet to walk back its capitulation to the regime. And that is power.

it's incredibly freeing and empowering to strengthen one's ability to resist capitalist hype/FOMO, and opt out of consumerist culture, even to a moderate degree. I hear that getting away from extreme consumption is pretty darn important to the health of our environment, too. 10/10 would recommend.

more importantly I feel good about not disposing of things that aren't REALLY disposable, adding to the weight of guilt about everything I've discarded sitting somewhere in a landfill. You hope for inert or recycled, but none of those things are a guarantee. Better to not discard if possible.
