the Java ecosystem however is full of libraries that are all like 20+ years old and were designed when things like records and modules and virtual threads and annotation processors didn't exist and as such are like 100x more complicated and clunky than they need to be

Java is almost tolerable if you:
- turn on -Xlint:all and -Werror
- don't use reflection
- limit use of annotations for stuff like DI and codegen
- generally follow the guidelines from Effective Java and try to keep up to date with where the language is headed in general

But in all seriousness Paramount / Skydance and Columbia alike are using Trump’s “coercion” to simply do things they wanted to do anyway. Of course David Ellison wants to elevate Bari Weiss’ vision of society which is hostile to all challenges to elite impunity and always has been.
