On Feb. 4, Luis was put on a plane headed to Guantanamo Bay, which the U.S. government alleges is only being used to detain "the worst of the worst." As Luis's story highlights, that is a lie.

Based on this article, Luis entered the U.S. legally through a CBP One appointment on January 19th in order to apply for asylum in the United States, a fully legal process. There is no mention of any criminal record and the only known "evidence" of gang affiliation is a Michael Jordan tattoo.

As others have pointed out, this is pure detention theater meant to give the illusion that the U.S. government's immigration policies are making America safer and that immigrants are generally dangerous. This story is a great example that both of those propositions are pure BS.
