A million years ago when I used Google Meet for captions, joining via an incognito browser tab and thus not-signed-in let you choose a display name. Not sure if that still works

CaptionNinja & VDO Ninja both use browser speech-to-text. CaptionNinja is indeed less fussy, but less customisable

For me, being the eldest child of POC immigrants felt like heaps of pressure and zero room for emoting or being human. Everything had to be perfect or it wasn't good enough. Everything was just OKAY AND GREAT.

Happy Latin Heritage Month! This year I really reconnected with my Bolivian heritage through folkloric dance. It's grounded me and filled my heart.

Last week, I danced the Diablada. We're the prancing devils, in clothing and masks mocking our colonizers. It's how we find joy in telling OUR story.

Ultimately, I want a cool, accessible & welcoming TTRPG event that my friends outside NL could get excited about visiting. There's another NL-based TTRPG con in its 3rd?/4th? year, but its venue and location are big minuses for me

Lastly, MQC should encourage participation from marginalised communities (like POC). That can happen by collecting demographics & offering those priority

And if they want a more international audience, their sign-up forms, etc. need to be in English. Dutch only forms didn't make it as inviting.

A purposeful space for organic spontaneous play would be cool. Or inviting future vendors a space to model/test-play the games

I'd also like MQC to encourage vendors to advertise if their goods/stall advertisement don't use GenAI. Couldn't find if they disallowed GenAI products in the first place

I would definitely want to see panels and more workshops (there were dice & mini painting workshops) next year. Because after your 30 minute loop of the vendors, if you weren't playing, there wasn't much else to do.

The MQC volunteers were very helpful and while in cosplay, VERY in character!

I ran Pirate Borg on both days during the afternoon. Most of my players had only ever played 5e. Definitely had a few converts! I gave plenty of recommendations to other games by European creatives that did XYZ themes or mechanics much better than 5e.

Total PC kill count: 11 😇

#Dutch20 organized the games. We were in a big hall, well spaced, with AC.

There was a healthier choice of non 5e games. I missed the fact that morning games were online pre-registration and afternoon games were day-of sign-ups only. That's pretty good for spontaneous playing.

I heard MQC was organized by former con vendors. So the emphasis on vibes, placement and spacing of the vending hall was really evident.

There were familiar vendors (like @lalionnecosplay.bsky.social!) and other local businesses. Lotsa TTRPG and fantasy stuffs. When game related, 80% all 5e

#MainQuestCon was fun and for it's very first iteration, did a neat little job. I have much more expectations of it for future years and because it's so accessible to me by public transport (it was held in Rijswijk, just outside Den Haag), I'll definitely be back.
