My 2 cents’ worth: 1) Awards aren’t as important to distributors as they used to be. 2) Movie stars don’t have the clout they used to have so, 3) Talent relations is less of a priority than it used to be. Also 4) There are other ways to reach Awards voters.

This is worse for Variety than it will prove to be for you. Your coverage has been a big step forward for Variety. You’ll find another place to work and land on your feet; they will have a much harder time finding someone to do what you do.
