One small issue figured out. It works off the schedules, not on real world time as ETS and LRT don't have GPS feeding the information. Will be great once they do.

This is a pretty cool transit app. You can follow ETS buses or LRT. Hope someday we will have regional and intercity passenger rail service. You can also go to any other area of the world. #yeg #transit travic.app?z=13&x=-1263...

BSPRA Annual Conference 2025 β€” Big Sky Passenger Rail Authority

Our neighbors to the south have been hosting an annual conference to increase support for passenger rail. It's time for Alberta to start hosting one to get the expertise and momentum to grow in western Canada. www.bigskyrail.org/2025-bspra-a... #yeg #yyc #Alberta #passengerrail

Why does the Journal keep giving press to a technology not proven anywhere in the world. I want HSR. EllisDon already proposed a Calgary Edmonton HSR line. That technology exists and works.

I’m a bit perplexed. Alberta announces a goal to have a pipeline to tidewater but with no private company’s confirmed to jump on the Canadian govt major projects list. Yet EllisDon has a much further advanced HSR project between Edmonton and Calgary and nothing. Frustrating. #yeg #yyc #hsr

I like this. A former standout not too long ago. Great insurance if Pickard stumbles or Skinner gets injured.

Alto wants piles of Canadian steel to keep high-speed rail on track - The Logic The Crown-owned builder of the Quebec City-Toronto line needs 300,000 tonnes for tracks aloneβ€”but decades of U.S. integration might complicate things

This can also be applied to Alberta HSR and if the rails start being manufactured in Canada, CN and CPKS could potentially be buyers for replacement rails.

The same problem in Canada. I like the idea of wifi in the article as it keeps more eyes nearby. The main part seems to have an onsite attendant or very regular cleanups and walk throughs to discourage bad behaviors

On this day of reflection on the untimely passing of Dr Darren Markland, what could be a lasting legacy. I believe naming the now under construction mountain bike park at Queen Elizabeth Park in his honour would be a good start. #yeg #mountainbike

Same issue in Edmonton. Some of the mayoral as well as councillor candidates are using bike lane expansions as the excuse of why car drivers are stuck in traffic. Omitting the construction and too many cars and little options for other modes.

I actually don’t mind the idea of a teachers college for those who have other education. Potential shop teachers would be a reason for this as many schools are short.

I just call it the edge since east is Garneau (Campus Towers). I always thought it was a person looking up at an open book. You can be anything you want to be.

Speaking of Marigold, on the west LRT they have made big changes on construction especially the intersections. TransEd had intersections closed for years. The goal is to get better as your workforce also gets better and you improve on past mistakes.

Now, this is the way to open a new LRT. Who could we get? McDavid, Nathan Fillion, why not KD Lang. We have Valley Line West and the south extension of the Capital Line. What about Hugh Jackman as Wolverine with a giant statue at one of the stations. #yeg #lrt

I would love to see the expertise in Calgary and Edmonton LRT expansion put to future rail expansions throughout the province. Could help keep future costs under control. Be like Madrid. Could be a new motto. #yeg #yyc #rail #alberta

How Madrid built its metro cheaply Madrid tripled the length of its metro system in just 12 years β€” faster and cheaper than almost any other city in the world. What can its expansion teach other cities?

This article about Madrid’s metro system has some great insights about how its growth was quick, cheap, and of good quality. They identified 4 key points that made it possible and successful. Great read.

Excellent find. It would be great to have this in Canada, but that would involve provinces giving up some control and taxation to cities.

For sure at 80 kmh, nope. The monstrous islands I've seen are on 40 or 50 kmh max roads.

Listened to an interview this morning and the head of Alto said
they have approached the Canadian steel industry to provide 4000 km worth of steel rails for the HSR project. He said no steel rail is currently made in Canada which surprised me.

Such a simple and effective design. The pedestrian islands we are building in Edmonton are all monstrously large compared to these ones. Less cost to build compared to ours

with your conference are excellent. Especially since one future idea would be to connect Lethbridge to Shelby at least.
