I really don’t see how you draw that conclusion. Means is a terrible choice, continues Trump’s pattern of absurd anti-science and unqualified appointments. But the problem is not having taken part in a full moon ritual. Short is a sexist MAGA Christo fascist, not an advocate of good public health.

I totally agree, she is deeply problematic. But not because she likes trees and took part in a full moon ritual. That just strikes me as Christian Patriarchal BS which is not surprising from someone who worked for Pence. We don’t need those MAGA bozos to tell us who is unqualified or why.

I don’t think the last three items are disqualifying, to be honest. Her lack of relevant qualifications for the actual work are what disqualifies her, not spiritual practices, connection to nature or even trying mushrooms.

I feel like there is room for the kind of argument Republicans make: states should make budgets like people balance checkbooks, using only what they deposited (via Fed taxes) into the bank (Fed govt), and not going into debt or overspending or relying on their rich auntie (CA, NY) to get by.

Many of the very rich and billionaires have multiple passports and legal residency in other countries. They have no loyalty to US, or investment in our communities’ well being. They manipulate our media and politics and are safe from the consequences, including resentment and violence.

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

A very clear pattern exists of ICE and other law enforcement using their nonlethal weapons improperly on purpose: too close, aiming directly at people, pepper spraying people who are restrained… essentially assaulting protesters because they can’t control their anger and control issues.

No apparent effort at architectural salvage, either. What happened to the beautiful paneling, or railings or columns? It seems likely many people would have paid for a chance to own one of the windows or doors, but… all torn up in a swirl of asbestos.
