Even if you are right, it’s still a problem. Instead of acting from shame, he should have shown humility and responsibility and cut the defensiveness . Instead we have gotten a load of injured white guy: β€œwhy is everyone picking on me for doing normal mindless white guy stuff?”

Succinct and clear about why β€œcentrism” isn’t the answer:

β€œThe current regime’s commitment to democracy itself is practically nonexistent. If the Democrats lose the next election, it will not be because their Republican opponents seemed like the more centrist option.”

I really don’t see how you draw that conclusion. Means is a terrible choice, continues Trump’s pattern of absurd anti-science and unqualified appointments. But the problem is not having taken part in a full moon ritual. Short is a sexist MAGA Christo fascist, not an advocate of good public health.

I totally agree, she is deeply problematic. But not because she likes trees and took part in a full moon ritual. That just strikes me as Christian Patriarchal BS which is not surprising from someone who worked for Pence. We don’t need those MAGA bozos to tell us who is unqualified or why.

I don’t think the last three items are disqualifying, to be honest. Her lack of relevant qualifications for the actual work are what disqualifies her, not spiritual practices, connection to nature or even trying mushrooms.

This is BS, but it also so dangerous dark. So now DOJ is an arm to impoverish (via legal fees) and intimidate local activists and candidates who happen to offend the fragile ego of the babyman in power? Everyone at DOJ driving this is demeaned by this depraved, anti democratic abuse of power.

I feel like there is room for the kind of argument Republicans make: states should make budgets like people balance checkbooks, using only what they deposited (via Fed taxes) into the bank (Fed govt), and not going into debt or overspending or relying on their rich auntie (CA, NY) to get by.

Many of the very rich and billionaires have multiple passports and legal residency in other countries. They have no loyalty to US, or investment in our communities’ well being. They manipulate our media and politics and are safe from the consequences, including resentment and violence.

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

The bottom line, and what I'm getting at, is that the price of admission to the Republican Party today is lying in the service of the dictator, like something out of Orwell's 1984; in this case, lying about the past.

Here's the rest of the doc for those who are interested.

I used to read about dictators fleeing their countries with much of their nation’s wealth and wonder about how that worked. Now it’s more clear.

To me, rather than piss, it looks like he is majorly getting off on his abuse of power and infliction of pain. Straight up sadism and eroticisation of coercive power.

Normalize having abortion pills on hand just like other standard medical supplies like Advil and cold compresses.

Good start, but focusing only on healthcare is too narrow. Trump is tearing down a lot more than the East Wing and the literal destruction provides a bridge to talking about institutional destruction. 🎡 He came in like a wrecking ballβ€¦πŸŽΆ

It’s totally like the most abhorrent 6th grade bully is president and he’s never going to grow up, just careen from preening, whining, and getting revenge for imagined slights to his baby ego. Only his power to destroy has grown, nothing else.

So often so true. A few awful women here and there, but the lion’s share of violence and suffering is at the hands of men. I am disappointed when women participate and enable, though. Pam Bondi and Kristie Noem have a lot to answer for.

@warren.senate.gov Be even madder. Recognize we want accountability. Connect the dots between bulldozers and DOGErs: reckless destruction of valuable assets Americans paid for over decades.

A very clear pattern exists of ICE and other law enforcement using their nonlethal weapons improperly on purpose: too close, aiming directly at people, pepper spraying people who are restrained… essentially assaulting protesters because they can’t control their anger and control issues.

No apparent effort at architectural salvage, either. What happened to the beautiful paneling, or railings or columns? It seems likely many people would have paid for a chance to own one of the windows or doors, but… all torn up in a swirl of asbestos.
