Tried a bit of everything. Former gifted kid, depressed burnout, finally found a calling in woodworking. Wants to make all the musical instruments. Nonbinary/genderfluid/genderqueer/it's complicated, e/em/eir

Anti-trans bigots are assaulting girls in bathrooms.

Trans women are not.

Quoted post by Derek Guy @dieworkwear.bskysocial:
Obergefell v Hodges made me believe in the whole "ark of history bends towards justice". In the 90s, I didn't think gay marriage would be legalized in my lifetime because homophobia was so deeply ingrained. We would have never gotten here without the decision, and now it may be overturned.

Two-post thread by Anthony Michael Kreis @anthonymkreis.bsky.social:
I urge everyone who is understandably disturbed by the petition news to consider how very unlikely it is for the Court to even take this up, much less reverse Obergefell. Unlike abortion, marriage opponents didn't have the same social movement that anti-abortion forces did, which was core to the GOP.
Same-sex marriage enjoys much more wider support among the public. It was a movement that Republicans occasionally played significant parts in--New York in 2011 and Obergefell being examples. There's also federal statutory protections on the books. And it would be a very messy right to dismantle.

Any political scientist who, in August 2025, claims those aware that the six Republican Christofascists on SCOTUS are salivating at the chance of reversing Obergefell, are "alarmists", is undermining efforts to fight the fascists. Has he watched the news at all? Fuck you, @anthonymkreis.bsky.social

I'm probably gonna mess this up, but it's a close-up of the left shoulder of a Dreadnaught cyborg from the WH40k universe, with purity seals attached that are actually just long-ass paper receipts from CVS Pharmacy.

What a great way to distract people from the Epstein files, being illegally nice to his main accomplice.

They're going to find a "confession" in someone else's handwriting when it happens. And it'll mention how Trump was never there.

Every time someone is talking about D&D's problems I'm like "LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT GARY GYGAX -" because the answer to "why is D&D like this" is always "Gary Gygax was a far-right freak who did not read actual history or mythology and egregiously misunderstood Tolkien"

And they've said he's there "on merit", which doesn't exactly speak well of their assessment abilities.

Tom Lehrer, singing The Elements, was of course both at once.

There are only two possibilities when someone starts singing the Major-General's Song. Either they're the absolute best and don't even know it, or they're an absolute shit and reveling in it.

Out here, the houses are built to take quakes. It's over in minutes, and you just tell the USGS if you're a nerd and get on with your life. Been here like 17 years, had a quake wake me up a grand total of one time.

In that case, I might have to avoid eating there if I ever get the chance, because I'm not planning to move out of California. Quakes I can handle, hurricanes not so much.

They do get points for being about the only fast food place I can get a side of broccoli, but for beans all they got is pinto.

That looks pretty damn good, but out here in California the closest we have to that is El Pollo Loco. Which is pretty damn good, but doesn't do black beans IIRC.

Yeah. Diesel is just really hard to get vaporized and light off in a gasoline engine, and will likely just stop it from running; it won't even stay running long enough to hydrolock. Whereas in a diesel, gasoline's extra volatility and lack of lubricity will be Not Good.

The Permanent [Mal]Apportionment Act of 1929 is the main villain of US politics and has been since 1929.

I would love to be able to sing in tune in my normal range. I've never been able to, though. Weirdly, I can do just fine in falsetto; singing along with the Bee Gees is no problem!
