Trump wraps up a speech to military leaders that represented a major escalation of his effort to weaponize the armed forces into a tool he can use to violently quash domestic dissent. Hard to imagine how anyone with a shred of dignity can keep serving after this, which of course is the point.

Hegseth's words seem especially chilling in light of his whitewashing of the Wounded Knee Massacre as a heroic "battle" only a few days ago. The message would seem to be that the Trump Administration is willing to forgive any atrocity US troops may commit as an "earnest mistake."

You guys, so many Romance girlies are reading "On Tyranny" that they've broken the Goodreads recommendations algorithm. 10/10; no notes.

AOC: We should be clear about who Charlie Kirk was. A man who believed that the civil rights act that granted black Americans the right to vote was a mistake… His rhetoric and beliefs were ignorant, uneducated, and sought to disenfranchise millions of Americans.

How the higher education outrage sausage is made I was exposed by Campus Reform and lived to tell the tale

I wrote recently about my more than 20 years in higher ed: "The biggest change I have observed is that I, my colleagues, and our students are intensely surveilled in the hope that we can be publicly shamed, fired or expelled if we say or do something wrong."

Blue graphic of the 1st amendment. Congress shall make no law respecting an
establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of
speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

We stand with those who exercise their right to free speech. The irony of #ABC and the #FCC trying to silence Jimmy Kimmel on the day the Constitution was signed in 1787 is not lost on us.

Here’s the 1st amendment again, because obviously Brenden Carr and Almin Karamehmedobic didn’t pay attention.

Not really an overstatement to say that the test of a free society is whether or not comedians can make fun of the country's leader on TV without repurcussions.

Air Force Academy cancels lecture after discovering speaker disparaged Trump Air Force Academy officials have canceled an annual fall lecture because the speaker, Paisley Rekdal, disparaged President Donald Trump online, prompting a harsh critique from the donor, David Jannett...

Over the decades I have spoken at all of the service academies and War Colleges. They've all known I was "a critic" of many policies

This is a really, really ominous development

(AFAcad cancelling a speaker, in endowed-lecture series, because she has criticized Trump.)

White Christian Taliban shit right here.

Time to stop tiptoeing around it. These people are fanatics pursuing a Holy War. It’s a critical piece of the threat assessment that should inform our strategies. (Psst. They’re not just going to hand back power.)

The President of the United States is threatening to go to war with an American city.

This is not a joke. This is not normal.

Donald Trump isn't a strongman, he's a scared man. Illinois won’t be intimidated by a wannabe dictator.

Code being open source doesn't mean that using it for LLM training cannot be a violation of the license associated with the code. I don't see how feeding the code through an LLM gets me around my obligations to cite the original code but I also cannot cite the original code if an LLM gives it to me.

DS9 scene. Rom is a Ferengi hero who has a large bald head and giant ears and lobes that sort of connect to make a unibrow and a ribbed pine cone looking nose. He's wearing a jacket that looks like those lick and stick backsplash tiles you can get at Lowe's. He's pictured here standing in a corridor, talking to someone and holding/reading a PADD. Closed caption reads, "Workers of the world unite. You have nothing to lose but your chains."

Honoring Ashli Babbitt Dishonors the Military If there’s no difference between upholding the Constitution and attacking it, then there’s no honor in service.

β€œβ€¦I am infuriated that the Air Force plans to grant military funeral honors to Ashli Babbitt. She did not die defending the Constitution. She died trying to overturn it.”
