I owe some money due to changes in pension growth calculations. Accountant submitted mid October, HMRC haven’t even acknowledged. My friend did the same in JULY and still has not been asked for payment.

On this day in 1936, the East End of London rose up against fascism. The Battle of Cable Street.

I confess I become increasingly irritated with Brits who inform me in what kind of deep trouble my country is in, and how blind we are supposedly to this, at a time when right wing nationalism is surging in Britain and NATO is hanging by a thread.
My Friends.
We are in the same boat.

We timed getting kittens for the 2 months off I had between finishing training and starting as a consultant so seems like a valid request.

It’s for all internal and external referrals to medicine (and if I recall correctly, gynae and gen surg for certain pathways). Staffed by ANPs and band 6 nurses. Internal referrals tend to be EPR referrals though - but they still screen them all.

I’ve just seen this - all our referrals via Single Point of Access who triage and direct to appropriate area (or give advice). They have support from SDEC consultant and SpR if needed. They can add people to our EPR based attendance lists.

Radio Soulwax

Rediscovered Radio Soulwax after listening to the Soulwax cloudbusting special on 6Music. Excellent music to set me up for a day of SDEC.

Great afternoon facilitating on our second medical SpR comms skills session for end of life discussions. A joy to work alongside my palliative care colleagues to make this happen and a privilege to support our SpRs in improving their confidence in having compassionate conversations.

Rough sleeping to be decriminalised in England and Wales The government plans to scrap the Vagrancy Act and bring in laws to focus on crimes like organised begging by gangs.

Rough sleeping to be decriminalised in England and Wales. 1824 law to be repealed.

About time.

Must attend to causes of homelessness - poverty, power of landlords, low benefits.

Must provide public shelters for those on hard times, reintegrate people on hard times.

Reminder: tube feeding for the treatment of dementia is nonbeneficial.

Yes, this is counter-intuitive.

But it's been established for decades.

Evidence & guidelines indicate that tube feeding doesn't prolong survival or confer clinical benefit.

I have certain songs I listen to on my way to work that put a bit of pep in my step, but I’m not sure that the world needs an acute medicine ward round soundtracked by Charli XCX just yet.

Do not attempt cardiopulmonary resuscitation (DNACPR) decisions DNACPR means if your heart or breathing stops your healthcare team will not try to restart it. A DNACPR decision is made by you and/or your doctor or healthcare team.

Decisions are made on the basis of whether resuscitating someone would be successful - a medical decision. As doctors, we do not have to offer treatment that we believe is futile. Patients are entitled to a second opinion and to seek legal advice but are not entitled to demand a futile treatment.

22.05.2025 10:40 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

In the UK CPR is a medical procedure & it is a medical decision as to whether it is offered. Futile treatments do not have to be offered to patients. This decision can be made in hospital or the community. Patients are entitled to a second opinion but they cannot demand CPR if it would be futile.

If you haven’t indulged in takeaway pizza for a while, the dominos-type will knock you in to a carb coma. Depends whether you think that’s a good or a bad thing πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ. More authentic pizza might feel less satisfying for full-cheat fulfillment tho.
