Think I've identified my two main problems with life destroying bad end stories.
1) the feelings of dread anxiety and such have a real chance of triggering a multi day mental breakdown.
2) I would simply kill myself if I was in the protagonist's shoes. Like if I was Olive? Dead by chapter 4.

I think it makes a lot of sense given the source material - a pilot is meant to be a tool or machine of war, and you can establish the same semblance of pleasure they’d get from “sex” by nulling them and just tapping into their pleasure systems

Yeah! Plus I think it adds another layer to the dehumanization of the pilot through violations of their bodily autonomy. Getting snipped without any say in the matter is something that happens to pets after all
