I'm not opposed to screenless it's just smaller than 1:1. I got really used to arm drawing.

I already have an iPad pro, but even still I really like having something larger. It's why I splurged on the cintiq in the first place

I have a 24 Pro so it's not unlikely, who knows if their new stuff is better. Screens in general are massively improved nowadays.

There are some OLED options in the 16" space now so I'm hoping I can save up and grab something larger once it's available

The reason it's frustrating is because now even if I do fix the cintiq (thank you @saigir.mustelid.party for suggesting bringing it to a maker space) I'll have to constantly be reminded that it's not just old but that even at the time the screen was pretty mid.

The thing that pissed me off most today, after failing to fix and then breaking my cintiq, was how using my little drawing tablet backup from xp-pen was so much snappier

Like good lord, now I'm wondering if that's just Wacom's drivers or maybe the response rate of the monitor.

Nope, this thing is 5 years old. Might be repairable but otherwise I'll just have to shell out for a replacement

Well, my cintiq was in the process of failing but in trying to do a temporary repair I broke it

Something I think about a lot is how most of the games that have had the greatest emotional impact on me are generally made by smaller teams with narrower scopes.

I don't think it's surprising, but it makes me think.

Like others have said, Mint is a good entry point. Bazzite as well since it's basically Steam OS.

I'd say pick one and try it out, apparently it's pretty normal to find the quirks and want to switch later, so don't worry about "best one" out the gate.

I can't use it because I'm cursed with "liking online multiplayer games" syndrome and those companies are terrified of allowing Linux players.

But it's absolutely worth it for everything else imo. I've tried Manjaro, Pop!_OS, and my friend installed Arch for me.

It's like an MLM that tells you to replace your wardrobe with colors that look good on you based on skintone and eye color

The answer for me was simple, easily removable. :3

I think it's a mix of WFH and traveling VAs. There's a whole section of a game I worked on where certain dialogue lines were recorded using a Blue Yeti and you can definitely tell lol.
