Building a Gravity Rig from Scratch #livemusic

We've been working with Luciano for 2 years on this.

Really exciting to see the project out there !

Since those early days, I’ve been continuously touring, for artists such as Hot Chip, Goldfrapp, Zero 7, Moloko, The Prodigy, Orbital, The Avalanches, Doves, Snow Patrol, Arca, Air, Sub Focus & The Chemical Brothers which ultimately led to the creation of Gravity Rigs and its mission today.

- a fantastic grounding for a career designing solid hardware & software systems. Contacts coming through the studio lead to the first footings into running keyboard & playback rigs live before touring with the Chemical Brothers began in 1997 - a role that still exists today!

The integration of #Ableton and Cycling '74s #MaxMSP enables us to cater for artists' specific creative vision and expand what's possible with existing tech.

We use #Max4Live with the #ferrofish to enable MIDI mappable presets; turning the unit into an exceptionally useful MADI switcher.

#DJLuciano has a custom communication system enabling him to stay in contact with the tech team in a discreet and efficient way.

For the #ChemicalBrothers we designed a system that enabled them to monitor all time related aspects of the #liveperformance.

Knowing set time finish and time elapsed when looping or jamming is essential when performing on festival stage with strict curfews.

Gravity Rigs provide custom hardware AND software solutions for clients.

We've used @cycling74.bsky.social Max4Live for multiple rig setups - to create bespoke software systems which integrate with hardware, and enables artist(s) to realise a creative goal.

We sliced the pack down time by over a third and with our custom stage boxes we also added some future-proof flexibility.

#massiveattack used a live setup upgraded this summer by Gravity Rigs.

The brief from their production team was to cut the setup and pack down time significantly, something we like applying ourselves to!

Radial's product range allows us to tackle many real world issues present in live audio production, with a reassuringly highly standard of build quality - a keystone of our philosophy.

Their products are well built & survive the rigors of touring which is what we're all about!

We like #Radial gear because we like solving problems!

We used their Key-Largo in the #maluma Rig, the SW-8 Mark 2 for #RagNBoneMan, their JDI Passive Direct Box for #meduzamusic and we resolved a unique switching requirement for #OVERMONO by using the Radial Backtrack.

#roland #alphathe and #akai_pro provided the #musictechnology for many of the performance aspects of these rigs too.
