It’s so interesting that an outlet that encourages its writers to speak truth to power is flourishing in a media industry where everything else seems to be in decline. I want that to be a lesson to people. Kowtowing to power—if your job is not that, nobody fucking wants that. It does nothing for you to pull a punch at this moment. You have to be able to stand up for a baseline of humanity. That’s what we do here. And I’m glad to tell you that they never blinked. They never thought twice about it. They just always were like, “All right, well, let’s keep doing what we do here.”
People keep asking why The Onion is doing well right now, and it's simply because we just refuse to kowtow. I cannot stress enough how good it is for your business and your soul be strong and even fun in the face of the ongoing horror and bullshit.

This was the point in the @propublica.org story on pricey cancer drug Revlimid where i got angry.
The price has gone up 26 TIMES since 2006.
Yet, @davidarmstrongx.bsky.social found a deposition where a top exec admits the drug has ALWAYS cost just $.25 to make.

A federal prosecutor in Los Angeles was fired Friday at the behest of the White House, after lawyers for a fast-food executive he was prosecuting pushed officials in Washington to drop all charges against him, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter. Adam Schleifer was terminated Friday morning, receiving an email informing him that the dismissal was "on behalf of President Donald J. Trump," according to two of the sources, who requested anonymity for fear of reprisals from federal officials. Joseph T. McNally, the acting U.S. attorney for the Central District of California who is Schleifer's boss, was not involved in the decision, the sources said.
