It’s so interesting that an outlet that encourages its writers to speak truth to power is flourishing in a media industry where everything else seems to be in decline.

I want that to be a lesson to people. Kowtowing to powerβ€”if your job is not that, nobody fucking wants that. It does nothing for you to pull a punch at this moment. You have to be able to stand up for a baseline of humanity. That’s what we do here. And I’m glad to tell you that they never blinked. They never thought twice about it. They just always were like, β€œAll right, well, let’s keep doing what we do here.”

People keep asking why The Onion is doing well right now, and it's simply because we just refuse to kowtow. I cannot stress enough how good it is for your business and your soul be strong and even fun in the face of the ongoing horror and bullshit.

Ashli Babbitt was a domestic terrorist who attempted to overthrow our government via a violent insurrection at our nation’s Capitol. The administration agreeing to pay her family $5 million of taxpayer money is disgraceful.

Chart titled "The Price of Revlimid Has Increased 26 Times Since FDA Approval"
It shows each price increase for the drug since 2006, when it sold for $280/pill, to its most recent price increase to $892/pill.

Below the chart is text from the story that reads:
"The cost to manufacture each Revlimid pill, meanwhile, was 25 cents. I found a deposition marked 'highly confidential' in which a top Celgene executive testified that the cost started at a quarter and never changed."

This was the point in the @propublica.org story on pricey cancer drug Revlimid where i got angry.

The price has gone up 26 TIMES since 2006.

Yet, @davidarmstrongx.bsky.social found a deposition where a top exec admits the drug has ALWAYS cost just $.25 to make.

Website For MAGA-Friendly Businesses Backfires As People Use It For Boycotts Social media posts about PublicSquare have gone viral as Trump critics use it to find companies not to support – the opposite of what the site was set up for.

NEW: PublicSquare, a website that lets you search for businesses in your community that explicitly want you to know they endorse Trump/MAGA values, is backfiring as people use it to boycott those businesses. www.huffpost.com/entry/public...

If the government’s position is that being trafficked to El Salvador by Donald Trump and Stephen Miller amounts to a final and irreversible deprivation of all rights, then it seems to me every federal court has a duty to permanently enjoin the practice as soon as it possibly can.

More Than 500 Law Firms Back Perkins Coie in Fight With Trump The firms signed a legal brief supporting Perkins Coie, calling the president’s actions a threat β€œto the rule of law.” The largest firms declined to sign.

More than 500 law firms on Friday threw their support behind some of their embattled peers, declaring that President Trump’s recent crackdown on the law firm industry poses β€œa grave threat to our system of constitutional governance and to the rule of law itself.”

U.S. corporate profits surged to a record high in Q4 2024, according to Commerce Department data.

Remember this as Trump tries to cut the corporate tax rate to 15%.

Corporations have used inflation as cover to price-gouge us. Trump wants them to keep more of the spoils.

A federal prosecutor in Los Angeles was fired Friday at the behest of the White House, after lawyers for a fast-food executive he was prosecuting pushed officials in Washington to drop all charges against him, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter.
Adam Schleifer was terminated Friday morning, receiving an email informing him that the dismissal was "on behalf of President Donald J.
Trump," according to two of the sources, who requested anonymity for fear of reprisals from federal officials. Joseph T. McNally, the acting U.S. attorney for the Central District of California who is Schleifer's boss, was not
involved in the decision, the sources said.

Though U.S. attorneys are political appointees who often ally with the agenda of the current presidential administration, line prosecutors like Schleifer are normally considered career employees. But since taking office, the Trump administration has made a point to drive those seen as political enemies from all levels of the federal government.
"This is the most overtly political firing I've seen in my time at the Department of Justice," said Palmer, the former federal prosecutor. "I could absolutely see it having kind of a chilling effect. I also think current prosecutors are concerned about the ability to have free speech. An AUSA [assistant U.S. attorney] who I spoke to said they are concerned that the only people who will be allowed to stay are Republicans or very quiet Democrats."

"The message from Adam's case is that if you're going to indict some run-of-the-mill CEO of a company, you need to check if he's a Trump supporter first," the former prosecutor said.
"It's going to cause line prosecutors to be considerably more careful about pursuing anyone who has even tenuous connections to the president, which is not good for the DOJ."

This is *extremely* alarming β€” White House fires a career federal prosecutor because he (1) went after a politically connected businessman and (2) criticized Trump during a 2020 congressional bid.

β€œWhite House fires a career prosecutor” is itself unprecedented.

Trump’s Latest Executive Order is a Shamβ€”and a Warning From Marc | The greatest threat to Donald Trump’s authoritarian dream is not the courts β€” it is free and fair elections.

It would disenfranchise millions. It seeks to restrict what ballots states can count. It purports to give DOGE unspecified powers to review state run voter rolls. No wonder vote suppressors and election deniers from coast to coast lavished it with praise. www.democracydocket.com/opinion/trum...

Violating rule of law, actually.
You are shredding the Constitution of the United States to go after political enemies.
Seizing a person without reason or warrant and denying them access to their lawyer is un-American and tyrannical.
Anyone celebrating this should be ashamed.
