The guy next door is even more gossipy than me. He's like a 60-something year old guy with a long white beard and he's always got the goods, he gave me the rundown yesterday and was talking to two of the women in my building earlier about it.

I've had people shout "I love your shirt!" across the street in NYC, and I've had people whisper "thank you for wearing that" in the produce section of the grocery store as they walk past. Store cashiers, flight attendants, hotel concierges, Costco stockers, strangers on the street... everywhere.

The guy in the house next door put some food out for the cats, I have to see later today if the guy is back and taking care of them or if I need to try and trap the little tabby, and we'll figure out what to do with the other one.

My landlord was in his car at the time, the guy got in front of the car and wouldn't let him leave. We don't know who called the police (was not my landlord), I'm assuming another neighbor who was watching it all go down in the parking lot behind the building.

OK so my downstairs neighbor may have been having a MH episode, or a series of them, or he's got something going on that's not being correctly managed, apparently he's gotten aggressive/picked fights with multiple neighbors over the last couple of weeks. He pointed a kitchen knife at my landlord.

I have a T-shirt that says "Protect Trans Youth" and every time I wear it people say they love my shirt, or thank you for wearing it. I make a point of wearing it when I travel, on airplanes, in uptight suburbia... I think even a tiny bit of visible solidarity makes everyone a little bit braver.
