D&D was yesterday, and I've shifted the campaign from stuff in Heliana's Guide to Monster Hunting to Ryoko's Guide to the Yokai Realms, essentially "act 2" of the campaign. It's fun, but I'd rather me and everyone I play with to find jobs and stop playing as a result. Or maybe play on weekends.

Finally saw Dust Bunny. Amazing!

Tingus Goose is on sale, so I picked that up.

Ran Nimble again yesterday. It was fun! But I was running a Dungeon Crawl Classics adventure, slightly modified. But not modified enough because Nimble 1st level characers are significantly more powerful than 1st level DCC characters. For session 2 I'll replace the enemies with Nimble enemies.

Realized the other day I need less prep for DND and more daydreaming about the world and the characters. I kept wondering why playing now wasn't as fun as playing in the past, and I think it's because I stopped doing that. Going to try it out!

Yesterday I sat down to prep dnd and procrastinated over two hours instead and did nothing. The cure for that? Today a friend of mine ran our online dnd session we have every other week. Problem fixed! Mental blockage removed! Now I'm going to go prep!

Two dnd sessions ago I had six scenes that I planned for and the players made it through one. Last dnd session I used that same list, but they didn't make it through any.

Ended up improvising a scene where they hunted aberrations for hides to make a bag of holding. Fun, even if unplanned :)

I have to prep for dnd tomorrow. I haven't touched it since last session. Also I only used 25% of what I prepped for last session. Hmmm....

I did okay today, despite...the world and everything. Woke up? Check. Cleared snow from the driveway? Check. Shower? Check. Ate? Check. Did some stuff in Unreal? Check.

Now I'm going to sit down with Mythic Bastionland and make a country, just for fun.

It took 3 hours but the group I run DND for took down the (5th level) dream holder from Heliana's Guide today, and it was one of the most fun fights I've run in DND in the past 30 years! Interesting abilities and immunities kept the group guessing, as did its illusionary doubles.

A friend of mine is running Crooked Moon on Foundry. It's a Ravenloft-like folk horror setting for DnD.

Had our second session today, and it was pretty darn fun. My puppet/bard/guy-who-knows-how-to-stab-ghosts had some usefulness in one big fight but far less when attacked by a fire ghost tiger.

That's like $1000 of books for $18. And if you don't play DCC it's not super hard to use in 5e (but you should give DCC a try!)

It was a good, smaller xmas this year. I come out of it with a happy family and some sort of sickness that makes me kind of gross and exhausted. And the physical books for Nimble and Mythic Bastionland, which is great but I mentally cannot process words right now. Here's to...sleep :)

I finished the story mode on the new Mortal Kombat 1, and I looked down at the WiiU controller I use, and I realized I've been playing Mortal Kombat games at home for over 33 years. After feeling whatever that emotion was, I'm glad they're still so fun after all this time.

Some days prepping a ttrpg session just flows naturally. Some days (or weeks) it just doesn't happen. I've been very patient with my brain but I'm running a session tomorrow and I need to push this all through the brainpipes so I can have dumb, sloppy dice fun with my friends. Brain, work with me!

I was torn between Diablo 4's new season and The Old Peace in Warframe all weekend. I ended up playing both, a lot, often too late at night. Both are great fun! And both are in my head, constantly trying to pull me from anything else I'm trying to do. All the time...

Dome Keeper is really fun, but the new Warframe stuff dropped today. And the holiday event in Star Trek Online started yesterday. And the new season for Diablo 4 starts tomorrow. And I'm making good progress in my Unreal project. And I have to prep for DnD tomorrow. It's an overload of good!

So every single multiplayer game using Unreal and aim offsets needs to implement a workaround because for saving bandwidth the engine uses unsigned bytes that can't pass negative values, so "looks down" yaw values don't replicate correctly out of the box? Fixed it, but it was a learning experience.

This whole weekend I've been caught between making a campaign setting for a Nimble campaign, learning Unreal multiplayer development, and playing Warframe to ready myself for The Old Peace on Wednesday. It's a hobby battle royale!

The TV-for-DnD-map worked fine, but I have a sheet of acrylic I bought so we can put minis on the tv without scratching stuff, and it's lost somewhere in the bowels of the tightly-packed storage under the basement stairs. I don't have it in me to tear that area apart looking for it right now. Sigh.

Corrupt save files are weird. Dunno what happened with this one.

For TTRPGs in person, I hate drawing maps on my ancient wet erase battle mat. Next DnD session, there's a map larger than my mat. I bought a TV a while ago to use for TTRPG maps, but it's being used as a TV, so I have an older, smaller TV I'll plug into my laptop and prep it all in Foundry.

Holy crap the new Marvel Invasion beat-em-up is really good! Daaaaaang it's so fun it's derailing my dnd session prep :p

It's difficult to tackle animations in Unreal without knowing much about animations. I mean, that's obvious, but I'm liviing it right now. I have a choice: find something on the marketplace, switch to something lower-scope, or just absorb as many tutorials as I can despite how long that will take.

I love DnD. But it's a game of webs, so many interconnected pieces it weighs down any non-memorized, non-practiced rules. Nimble still has webs, but less and lighter webs. Been reading Nimble all day and started jotting down notes for a new campaign specifically for it. Exciting!

Oh no! But in a good way! I was gifted the Nimble 2 ttrpg and now really want to try it out. But tomorrow I'm running my dnd campaign. But new shiny game is calling to meeeee!

Nimble 2 seems pretty awesome, very dnd but made to keep players engaged even when it's not their turn in combat. Yay!

Just finished Outer Worlds 2! Satisfying throughout and I appreciate the Fallout-ish ending that shows you the results of so many of your choices throughout the game. But instead of jumping in again and making different choices, I'm going to find a new obsession for a little while :)
