Is there a strain on peer review? – It’s more complicated than you think - Impact of Social Sciences
The significant growth of academic publishing in recent years has led some to argue the system is reaching a breaking point, but is it this simple?
“Around 50% of funded research remains unpublished”✍️Ritu Dhand
Citation bias leaves valuable lab work unseen, fuelling duplicated effort. PWC estimates €26B lost in Europe alone. Time to rethink what we call ‘quality’!

When I saw The Lives of Others, I thought for the first time that look, some of the Securitate people could have been as kind as anyone else.
One difference with now is that we all give access to so many people to our personal information. Our behavior re privacy radically changed in 2008 or so.

On #immigration, true #cosmopolitans should argue that states violating people’s right to #free movement should either be sentenced, or owe compensations to the people harmed, or that States deserve #amnesty
Why has nobody ever considered these positions?

Hiring people to hunt migrants for $1000 each
Same day, a reputed journal from the same country rejected my paper because an author I mentioned in passing doesn't support the states' "right to exclude immigrants" but the demos' right to exclude them.
Not a big deal? Now, that we have a video... 😱
