Pro tip. I always use the same boiler plate sentence to start all my reviews so I can remember what I wrote

Gut check as some students work on econ PhD admissions for the coming year:
The mapping from GRE score to percentile has shifted a lot for quant in the past decade. (e.g., a score above the 90th percentile 15 years ago is at the 80th percentile now). Are PhD programs filtering on score or %tile?

Loss of DHS data sets. @scientificdiscovery.dev posted this paper that shows new dhs data increased chance of a publication on that country. I have not read it yet

I'm at #CTREE I only recognize a few people here. There is no one posting about papers. I miss the old days of Econ twitter. FWIW I also see no posts on Twitter about CTREE (the first time I have probably logged in months)

My first sentence of every review starts the same with the title of paper so I can tell which reviewer I am when I get an 2nd round review request. I then summarize in a couple of sentences to set up a final sentence which previews the rest of the review

a friend gave me her Maryland Masters of Library science robe in 2007, I still use it annually, despite having an Ag Econ PhD from Wisconsin

I got desk rejected in a week in September 2023. They said desk reviews take 2 weeks to a month when I submitted. Paper was a replication of a paper with dhs data in one country we added 11 more. Never found a home for that one

I can send it to you this summer, once it's ready. Early results look good. We gave $1,000 scholarships to students who repeated and passed Intro to Micro this fall. Looks like pass rates went up, will use Intro to Macro as comparison
