But there's much work to be done convincing everybody else to drop existing classes in favor of gender-neutral ones.
I take your points, yes.
But, the reality today is that the widely accepted men/women classification falls apart once "Trans" classes are introduced.
I don't yet know a solution that addresses the concerns (imagined or otherwise) than to add a third class that's non-gendered.
I'd like to, someday, get to your level of clarity.
But, as this conversation shows, we're still quite a ways away from a consensus, or a solution that works?
Ok
28.07.2025 19:27 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The debate, I think, is whether "Trans Women in Women sports" is discrimination.
I think Trans Women can/should play sports.
Since you mentioned religion, would you consider it discrimination if a church were to deny an imam a chance to lead Friday Muslim prayer in the said church?
I bet not?
I don't know you, but I could be like them and say "you're an idiot"?
But I won't, since it does not help the conversation.
Be well.
"I actually don't care what you say/don't-say/support/don't-support/etc...".
That ends the conversation then, doesn't it? Imagine if everyone held that position?
I get this statement, though I doubt that "all sports becoming gender neutral" will happen for another 50 years?
The challenge is: weight, height, and gender classes exist TODAY. It is, so far, unclear how to handle Trans Women, since there's a perception of "masculine advantage".
Prefer to be independent. Not that it matters, but never voted R.

Deal with the argument, not insults, ok?
I assume you are or lean liberal? We're on the same team.
Can't imagine you convincing someone unlike you with this manner of interaction?
Do better.
I haven't a clue what your point here is, but ok.
28.07.2025 18:36 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This is a specious argument, comparing fixed vs mutable characteristics.
Race is fixed. Gender identity isn't?
Doesn't work that way though.
Like it or not, most parents understand the nuance in Buttigeg's statement.
Boxing has a "weight class". You wouldn't want a person at a higher weight class to compete at a lower weight class, would you?
PS: I say this as a "never that guy", D-leaning independent.
Buttigeg is right that "parents have legitimate concerns with transgender kids playing in women's sports."
I, a parent, agree with this too.
Compare your position vis-a-viz "I support abortion" and "I don't support abortion, but I support a woman's right to choose".
Perhaps you have it wrong?
Like clockwork, she's "concerned."

Yes, businesses are known to be quite altruistic--they will surely "eat the cost" of the tariffs, and not make l consumers pay more π.
Sad.
Surely Texas and Oklahoma have better forest management policies than, say, California? And couldn't they release the waters like was demanded if California? Or perhaps it's the woke policies causing the fires?
(/sarcasm, of course).
