IN THE LOST LANDS: The only difference between this and the incessant barrage of shitty Netflix movies is I saw it in the theater so I couldn't look at my phone the whole time.

BLACK BAG: A solid, stylish thriller. Hey, It's Soderbergh—you're going to have a good time.

RIFF RAFF: I waited almost a full week to post this review. It wasn't because I was carefully considering what I might have to say. No, I forgot about it completely. And that's really all there is to say about this one.

THE DAY THE EARTH BLEW UP: All the fun you remember from childhood Saturday mornings. The only thing missing is a commercial reminding you that Trix are for kids—and also part of this nutritious breakfast.

Jesus came among us as a truly human person. He died a truly human death.

He has ascended into heaven and is now enthroned over all creation. In his human body—as the God who is truly human.

A WORKING MAN: Big man. Big truck. Big vengeance.

The spiritual sacrifices that we offer—the worship, the praise, the prayer that we give to God—they actually make a difference. They are participating in the reality of Jesus' life. We are taking part in the transformation of the cosmos into the new Eden.

What we do matters.

PRIMAL FEAR: I really miss 90s thrillers.

DEATH OF A UNICORN: Some will write this film off as just another "eat the rich" horror comedy. I think reducing it to those terms misses the point. It's really about how good humans are at rationalizing their behavior. Plus, killer unicorns!

God intends to redeem the entire creation, for this world to once again be the place where God and creation meet.

Where creation thrives. Where humanity flourishes. Where everything is exactly as it should be.

HELL OF A SUMMER: The Wet Hot American Summer x Friday the 13th mashup nobody asked for. You know what? It's fine. This movie has a great jokes-per-scene ratio and a delightfully brief hour and a half run time. There are far worse ways to pass the time with a movie.

We who are now joined to Jesus in our baptism have been redeemed out of the fallen cosmos and reclaimed for our true calling: to be priests.

Not professional clergy. Not religious specialists.

Priests. All of us. Royal priesthood.

Your prayers are participating in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. They are participating in the reality of Jesus' life.

By that participation, we are taking part in the transformation of the cosmos.

What you pray in your living room alters the fabric of reality.

The death and glorious resurrection of Jesus have changed everything. The cosmos is fundamentally different because of what God has done in Jesus Christ.

Everything is different. The very fabric of creation has been altered.

This isn't metaphor. This is reality.

DROP: Christopher Landon keeps making great thrillers. He has a unique gift for infusing humor into high-tension moments—not to relieve the tension, but somehow to heighten it. With Landon, you might pay for a whole seat, but you really only need the edge.

We are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, called to proclaim the glory of God who called us out of darkness. We have been called to this life of praise not for our own glory, but on behalf of others. For the sake of the cosmos. For the sake of the whole world.

DROP: A second viewing just reinforces how damn Hitchcockian this movie is. Genuinely excited to see what Christopher Landon does next.

THE ACCOUNTANT²: Sure, the story is silly and the plot is so full of holes it could be a golf course. But the last thing I'm looking for in this kind of movie is a reality check. Grab your popcorn, turn off your brain, and enjoy this one for it is.
