A friend challenged me to dub a certain character from Naoki Urasawa's Monster. I've never done one of these before, but the process of dubbing, mixing, and adding sound effects/music seemed fun. Super rush job I put together in a few hours and I hear the technical problems, but it was enjoyable!

While I don't have the console, it's fascinating/super cool that you do these projects. Especially for the JP-only games, I imagine it's fun for things like creating/sourcing custom cart stickers. :3

I also think these are extremely generous prices for the labor involved, so I'm sharing it around!

Notes:
- I used the subtitles from the Japanese version as an extra bit of challenge rather than dub line-by-line from the translation. It's a little hard to sell it but I think that provides an authentic jank, hehe
- Yes I am heavily cribbing Keith Silverstein's style here because that guy rocks

I think I capped at no more than three forums and a couple of IRC chats simultaneously.

I wonder! If only because I think hosting a forum will ultimately end up being far cheaper than Nitro, while also having that service become divorced from the actual platform I'd be in control of.

I think the real dealbreaker for a lot of folks is the power of existing networks (Metcalfe's Law).

Discord Nitro canceled. Now to think about the cost of servers and hosting in the pursuit of a forums equivalent.

You can oppose Discord’s decisions without trying to pretend you’re above scrutiny for having used it in the first place. I’m uninterested in measuring relative culpability in using a harmful platform in order for you to feel that the egg on your face is of finer stock than the one on mine.

By the way, I’m seeing mutuals being smarmy about people who already had Discord Nitro. The increased upload limit cap was extremely helpful as a developer, especially when working in 3D.

For me it was not at all about animated emotes, but less friction when it came to using the platform for work.

Well if Discord goes through with this age verification nonsense, I’m going to make a goddamn forum like it’s 1999 and hit da bricks.
