Space Adventures #12 (1954). An astronaut is sitting in her suit with a bubble helmet on. She sends a message "hello Earth...I've landed safely...no sign of life here..." She does not notice the large alien approaching from behind. It is pink, with a huge torso, big eyes, and an oval mouth. It has three stringy fingers on each hand has very spongy skin.

I’d argue that the loss of Ed Piskor and the end of Cartoonist Kayfabe was massively damaging to the medium from an educational perspective. CK was not criticism, but the discussion of the medium from the POV of creators, and exposing their audience to lesser know works, thus creating context…

The artistic, cultural and contextual knowledge for criticism doesn’t broadly exist around comics. Frankly, even film (a medium far more researched and understood) has few true critics, despite thousands of podcasts etc. talking *about* movies.
