Absolutely agree with @sturdyalex.bsky.social's assessment that Mandelson was chosen as US ambassador because of his links to Epstein and Trump rather than in spite of them. This may have been short-sighted and subsequently backfired, but the political reactions to his appointment lack any nuance.
