I think we can all agree that the directive for ICE and anyone sent into cities on behalf of Trump and DHS is to incite violence and create chaos to feed their narrative. Say it loud and say it often.

Living a moral life in an age of bullies requires collective action; it cannot be done alone. Each of us must organize and participate in a vast network of moral resistance. From this solidarity we will grow stronger. This is what our current moment requires.

A street art mural on a beige wall depicting a young girl in a yellow headscarf. Her grayscale face is framed by a halo of flowers, roses, and red hearts. The artwork combines delicate floral patterns with a direct, serious gaze. Beneath the portrait, a pink strip carries the bold text: β€œRage against the fascism.” The contrast of innocence and resistance gives the piece a powerful, politically charged message.

I'm not asking people to stop talking about Kimmel or the coming repression tied to their latest martyr projectβ€”all of this is important. I am just saying, can we work in more discussion of our neighbors being hunted and protesters being gassed, beaten, and shot with pepper balls in Chicagoland?

Kirk's murder is being weaponized to corral us into a smaller and smaller arena of speech, and it is our job to refuse to be confined, to keep speaking out, to keep making irreverent jokes, supporting progressive voices, chastising the high-profile cowards, and talking among ourselves.

Trans rights are not the rights of a tiny minority, trans rights are everyone’s rights to self-determination, control of our bodies, and a society where opportunity and aesthetics are not restricted by sex assigned at birth

You should support and defend trans people because trans people are people

The right to speak our minds and to disagree with each other - to disturb, even - is at the very heart of what it means to be a free people. It is not to be denied. Not by violence, not by the abuse of governmental power, nor by acts of corporate cowardice.
As a Guild, we stand united in opposition to anyone who uses their power and influence to silence the voices of writers, or anyone who speaks in dissent. If free speech applied only to ideas we like, we needn't have bothered to write it into the Constitution. What we have signed on to - painful as it may be at times - is the freeing agreement to disagree.
Shame on those in government who forget this founding truth. As for our employers, our words have made you rich.
Silencing us impoverishes the whole world.

Imagine a group of 5-year-olds playing a board game. The rules are clear, the goal is fair, and one child edges ahead β€” until, suddenly, another child starts losing. That’s when the trouble begins. β€œHe cheated!” the losing child yells. β€œI’m the winner anyway!” he declares. And then, like clockwork, he flips the board. In the world of kindergarten conflict resolution, we expect this kind of behavior. We chalk it up to development. We teach better sportsmanship.

What do we do when the president of the United States behaves this way? On Friday, President Trump fired the head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics β€” the nation’s workaday scorekeeper of employment, wages and productivity. Why? Because the data didn’t make Mr. Trump look good. The statistics were inconvenient. So the president didn’t just challenge the findings; he fired the statistician. That’s not governing. That’s board flipping.

my view is that everyone should be able to earn a living wage doing whatever it is they like. if you love working in a bookshop, you should be able to live a comfortable life doing so. if you loving being a barista, the same. and if you want to do more traditional blue collar work, that’s cool too!

I will be damned if I allow a bunch of Confederate-waving January 6th apologists give the American people a lecture on flag waving.

There is ZERO reason to enter an argument about patriotism with people who still worship traitors to America 150+ years later.

All while ripping away food & healthcare from working-class families.

AFRICOM commander Gen. Langley tells senators that China is "trying to replicate" USAID programs in Africa as the US scales back USAID.

"They're trying to use that as an extension of the Belt and Road Initiative to gain favor by the African countries," Langley said.

Wow who could’ve guessed that this would happen

It’s almost as if USAID was a pillar of American soft power and influence in the world

It’s almost as if it was entirely predictable that America’s adversaries would work to fill the void left by USAID’s destruction
