bike lane detour set-up during adjacent construction this morning

beautiful job by city and traffic crew

adjacent lot to go from $900k assessed value (parking lot) to excess of $10 million with 75 housing units

the not so little things that show we are improving as a biking city:

beautiful job on a simple bike lane detour where lake to lake was closed due to adjacent construction needs

two years ago we had LANE CLOSED signs in similar situations without detour options

first electronic counter with a display put up on the lake to lake route this week

final leg of the route set to open next month which will form a 6km all ages and abilities route spanning the full length of Penticton from North to South

Lake to Lake Bike Route counter (at Eckhardt Ave) for 2024 showing huge increase in use to 119,991, up 24% over last year and 59% over 2022.

Huge given the route is not yet complete and no other network expansion yet!
