Yeah I agree with that. If Isak joins it becomes too risky from a minutes POV.

Considering Isak might not be there by then (or at all), having him for the opener and flipping him to Eze GW2 could work well. Certainly wouldn't want him in the long run.

I'm probably gonna go there. Will have Wirtz for some Liverpool cover and happy to take the risk early on considering their fixtures in GW2 + 3. Have a feeling Haaland is gonna start the season with a bang.

Couldn’t agree more. Genuinely just don’t understand how it’s fun 🤷‍♂️ The best bit about FPL is when the guys you back go and grab you points, if a computer has done it for you I don’t see how you get any buzz at all from it.

Was so set on a no Haaland no Salah GW1BB but now I’m less sure. If you have a trash bench you can build a ridiculous 11 with a decent defence, Haaland, Watkins, Palmer, Saka, Wirtz and Rogers…which possibly beats your BB score anyway!

Ah, that makes more sense. I thought it was relating to all midfielders and forwards so I was very surprised by that.

Seems crazy that Foden isn’t on here considering he got 105 points last season despite being under par and playing less than usual.

Fair. I'd still be a bit wary of the minutes of all of these for a BB, although it looks likely Wissa will leave and Thiago will start. Malen a gamble but one that could very much pay off!

I doubt Kinksy makes it as the number one and I would worry about that defence for the surrounding weeks. Would you look to WC straight out on 4?

This is a decent squad for a GW2 BB. Still prefer GW1 though.

Thinking something like this with a BB GW1. Will look to WC GW6-8 with this team.

Absolutely. Plan for a switch from Watkins to Gykores in 7/8 with the option to go sooner if it looks worthwhile.

Like yourself, I’m keen on starting with Watkins, which would allow an easy switch if he looks unreal.

No Salah or Haaland very easily unlocks Isak, Watkins, Palmer, Wirtz, Saka/Foden, which is very tempting. That'll do for today though, I'll be back after the Community Shield when we're actually close to the start date 😂

100%. I hate the idea in general but if they were gonna do this why not just give managers one extra transfer? No one will have five AFCON players in their squad, particularly with Ghana missing.

Didn’t like yesterday’s announcements but they were whatever. This AFCON change is genuinely abysmal though. It’s close to being a third WC ffs.

So you can use a chip every four and a half gameweeks on average now. That's way too much. The whole point of a chip is that it feels big when you play it due to how few you have. It will just feel like a common occurrence now.

I agree. Midfield and defence are obviously still issues but with no European football and Cunha and Mbeumo able to take the creative (and goalscoring) burden off of Bruno they should be much improved.

Absolutely. It might not even increase the pool of players much anyway as it will just lead to a different sort of template pick. I guess we'll have to see how it plays out. This has got me wondering if there will be some other big changes now...

I do see the pros of having a wider pool of players to realistically choose from - hopefully it will lead to more variety - but I also think it's a change aimed at the small percentage of people who actively spend a lot of time on FPL each week. Simpler scoring = more competitive landscape imo.

Not a massive fan of the defensive change tbh. I think fantasy is at it's best when it's relatively simple and easy for *everyone* to grasp quickly. The more niche they make the scoring the more it just helps the AI/algorithm/model guys.

Strange season. Solid start, dreadful middle and a strong last 8 weeks.

The run of injuries/suspensions from GW24 to Ndiaye, Amad, Gakpo, Trent and Cunha decimated me but a fifth top 100k ain’t too bad.

64 all out and up to 🌍74k.

Decent week all round, although last night was a bit annoying.

Onto the last week! Likely Evanilson or Saka but might punt on someone more fun.
