The India history keeps coming with Team USA. Harmeet Singh shone in the 2012 U19 World Cup (wickets in the quarters and semis, ran out Travis Head in the final), but he and Saurabh Netravalkar both played for India at the one before that in 2010.

For all the West Indies had done in the #T20WorldCup, theyโd never taken a hat-trick - now they have!
Romario Shepherd joins Brett Lee, Ekta Bisht, Anya Shrubsole, Curtis Campher, Wanindu Hasaranga, Kagiso Rabada, Karthik Meiyappan, Josh Little, Pat Cummins (twice) & Chris Jordan on the list.
Oliver Davidsonโs last bowl in a โliveโ game was in a club game for Carlton in Edinburgh. That was in August - now heโs bowled his first over for his country, in a #T20WorldCup, at Eden Gardens.
Despite its best efforts to get in its own way, cricket can be great.

I sure hope so. Above all I hope Moeen is happy there.

Gotta be weird for Scotland too, getting Denmark 92-d in at the shortest possible notice.

So itโs done. Itโs quite something that the Bangladesh government wouldnโt permit the BCB to back down even with a #T20WorldCup spot at stake.
The ICC talk about not wanting to set a precedent or undermine their neutrality, butโฆthat shipโs sailed, no?
3 tons & 6 fifties in his last 20 ODI innings. Through the 2023 Asia Cup to the start of the World Cup, he scored 100 & two 90s in just over a month.
He's also scored 3 consecutive ducks and 3 ducks in 5, in 2 separate blocks, 5 years apart. The baffling career of Kusal Mendis.
Meanwhile, the ICC press release ignores all of this reality and says that the tournament โwill proceed as scheduled with Bangladeshโs matches to be played in India.โ
Thereโs no mention of the possible expulsion of Bangladesh or their replacement by Scotland.

Donโt ever tell me that sport isnโt political. That isnโt a comment on the rights and wrongs of Bangladeshโs situation, which is complex to say the least - itโs an acknowledgement of reality.
#T20WorldCup
Not content with an entirely legitimate battle against the BCCI a few weeks out from the #T20WorldCup, Bangladesh cricket has opened up a new front - against itself. Popcorn at the ready, folks!

This now happens almost every time a player of Pakistani descent, whoever theyโre playing for, comes to India. World Cup or bilateral series, it doesnโt seem to matter. It shouldnโt be like this.

Expecting a warm reception at the Emirates for Renee Slegers given her new contract, and maybe an even bigger one for Smilla Holmberg if she gets on. Thereโs going to be a desire to show she really is welcome after the disgusting comments left on her signing video, a โnot in our nameโ

Former Nadeshiko Japan midfielder Marumi Yamazaki, who retired in 2023 after a career spent mostly in the Nadeshiko League with Urawa, Niigata, Nagano and Chiba (along with a short WEL stint at Omiya) has come out as a trans man and announced his marriage.

Editing for video also means you canโt properly edit for audio without making the video horribly jumpy, or using a lot of irrelevant B-roll. So you end up with every um and erm and weird distracting mouth noise still in the finished product.

The entire Boxing Day Test lasted 853 balls.

Itโs not even a question, we know exactly how pitches this lively are treated in other parts of the world. Stokes is right to call it out, and especially given heโs on the winning side so thereโs no question of sour grapes.

Did Steve Smith justโฆmiss a straight ball?
Tongue, by the way, seems to like bowling at Smith. Heโs got him out 3 times in 3 Test innings, at an average of 11.7 - no bowler whoโs bowled as many balls at him has a better average.

It is absolutely baffling that Brydon Carse is the second highest-wicket taker in the series. Other than the first innings at Perth, itโs hard to remember him bowling a single good spell.

Ollie Popeโs position was untenable, but batting 3 and taking no form into the Boxing Day Test at 3-0 down is a tough gig for Jacob Bethell.
With Jofra Archer now injured, the pace attack now looksโฆitโs too quick to be popgun, but it doesnโt scream reliable or consistent.

I'm old enough to remember when the Post launched its first podcast, which was just a person โ an actual human, not a bot โ reading one of the stories in that day's paper. That person was me.

News Team, Thank you for the notes and texts. I apologize for not reaching out earlier. I learned on Saturday that Bari Weiss spiked our story, INSIDE CECOT, which was supposed to air tonight. We (Ori and I) asked for a call to discuss her decision. She did not afford us that courtesy/opportunity. Our story was screened five times and cleared by both CBS attorneys and Standards and Practices. It is factually correct. In my view, pulling it now-after every rigorous internal check has been met is not an editorial decision, it is a political one. We requested responses to questions and/or interviews with DHS, the White House, and the State Department. Government silence is a statement, not a VETO. Their refusal to be interviewed is a tactical maneuver designed to kill the story. If the administration's refusal to participate becomes a valid reason to spike a story, we
have effectively handed them a "kill switch" for any reporting they find inconvenient. If the standard for airing a story becomes "the government must agree to be interviewed," then the government effectively gains control over the 60 Minutes broadcast. We go from an investigative powerhouse to a stenographer for the state. These men risked their lives to speak with us. We have a moral and professional obligation to the sources who entrusted us with their stories. Abandoning them now is a betrayal of the most basic tenet of journalism: giving voice to the voiceless. CBS spiked the Jeffrey Wigand interview due to legal concerns, nearly destroying the credibility of this broadcast. It took years to recover from that "low point." By pulling this story to shield an administration, we are repeating that history, but for political optics rather than legal ones.
We have been promoting this story on social media for days. Our viewers are expecting it. When it fails to air without a credible explanation, the public will correctly identify this as corporate censorship. We are trading 50 years of "Gold Standard" reputation for a single week of political quiet. I care too much about this broadcast to watch it be dismantled without a fight. Sharyn

Ben Stokes has produced some of the most astonishing cricket youโll ever see.
But his overall, everyday batting is sorely lacking middle gears. If he had even a bit of Root or Smithโs ability to knock good balls into gaps and get singlesโฆbut instead, itโs grim stonewalling or furious destruction.
