This definitely feels like it was timed to catch people by surprise and not give them enough time to find an alternative and abandon ship. I think they're counting on most people just not caring or not feeling too inconvenienced.

Discord was always just a closed, corpo version of IRC, which was nice back in the day but definitely not user friendly. It unfortunately was destined to enshittify.

These "distraction-pilled" people are the newest type of annoying person to exist and they drive me nuts.

Anyone who makes this kind of claim doesn't understand two things:

1. People can like a variety of things so a blanket declaration like that is pointless.

2. A work can be inspired by other genres, and a "hard SF" show like LoGH is no exception.

A fun thing I did decades ago was watch DBZ daily on Spanish TV in the morning and Toonami in the afternoon (Saban dub). They happened to be aligned at the start and you could see all the American censorship, but they diverged as the English version edited episodes together.
