For all of its flaws overall as a game, I think Dragon Age II has my favorite story of the series because it feels the most "real" and not about big fantasy tropes like all the other games.

Sorry, but you're wrong. If they're owned by Nintendo that makes them by definition an internal team. Nintendo doesn't own HAL and Intelligent Systems, so games made by them are second party.

The reason why CR and some of these Japanese licensors now feel like they can get away not putting enough care into localization is at least partially because the demonization of translators that came with the rise of Gamegate shit made that significantly easier for them
