in times of turmoil it is very easy to feel like theres nothing you can do to help, especially if you are far away, but i promise buckaroo EVERYTHING helps. there is direct action like donating money or protesting, and there is cultural action like creating art and cultivating atmosphere of change

Part of the issue is that those most actively protesting and leading mutual aid are women and gender non-conforming people. Both groups are illegible to many as protesters. This helps explain the invisibilization of current protests and resistance.

I'm just going to point out that ICE is about 23 years old. It was formed as part of the response to 9/11 and was reactionary, performative, and racist from the start.

Its not eternal. This is not a thousand-year Reich.

The carceral system in the United States creates and causes far more violence than it has ever prevented. It enables and creates far more violent abusers and murders than it has ever punished.

And that's why asking what abolitionists will do with violent people isn't a valid question.

Elected officials have to stop posting like bystanders who have no power.
